About MostPops and where the numbers come from
MostPops shows the top 8 of everything, country by country and city by city: songs, apps, games, people, places, food and more. Every list has exactly eight entries, so it can be read at a glance.
We do not invent rankings, and we do not blend sources behind your back. Each list is built from one named public source, and its page says which source it is, what is measured and when it was last updated. Continent and world lists are calculated from the country lists, weighted by population, and say so.
Where no reliable public data exists (for example how busy a restaurant is today), we say what we measure instead, such as the best known places by Wikipedia readership. Visitors can also vote for restaurants and bars. Those votes only show once enough people have voted, and votes that look like manipulation are not counted.
Movement arrows compare a list with its previous weekly update. The history behind the charts and the monthly archive build up week by week.
