Who is behind this site

MostPops is an independent project, run by Alper Karagöz. Questions about your data can be sent to the contact address on this page.

What we collect

Visits. The site is delivered by Cloudflare. To deliver the pages, protect them from abuse and count visits, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type. We use Cloudflare's visit statistics, which work without cookies.

Your settings. Your light or dark theme and your progress in the daily quiz are kept in your own browser. They are not sent to us. The site may also keep copies of pages in your browser so that it opens faster and works offline.

Voting. When you vote for a restaurant or bar we store your choices, the time, and three one-way codes (hashes) made from your network address, from your network address plus browser type, and from a random identifier kept in a cookie called mp_dev. They only serve to prevent repeated voting and manipulation. We do not store your IP address in readable form. The cookie is sent only to the voting service and expires after one year. Votes and codes are deleted after 60 days. A Cloudflare Turnstile check makes sure that you are a person.

Newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address is kept by our newsletter provider until you unsubscribe.

Advertising

The site currently shows no advertising and sets no advertising or tracking cookies. If this changes, this page will be updated first and your consent will be asked where the law requires it.

Other services your browser contacts

Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, flag images from flagcdn.com, album and app artwork from Apple's servers and photos from Wikimedia Commons. Pages with a world map also load map code from jsDelivr. These services receive your IP address when your browser requests their files.

Your rights

You can ask what data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to its use. Because votes are stored only as one-way codes, we may need you to send us the cookie or the details you used before we can find them. Write to the contact address on this page.

Children

The site is not directed at children.

Changes

If we change how we handle data, we will change this page and the date above.
